Identifying Problems in Project Process

Image
I've been planning out the project for a little bit now and I feel that I am not taking enough time to really get the website where I want it to be before I start implementing multiple pieces. With midterms the past two weeks I wasn't able to spend much time in this class so I am trying to catch up now but, in looking at my website I want to spend a bit more time designing it and moving some things around. I haven't ever created a website before so I have no idea many of the components that will be necessary to complete the project but I look to spend some more time figuring it out in the next few weeks. I really liked the Enlightenment piece that I created where I related philosophers creating the encyclopedia to a studio session with rappers. I want to take that piece and expand off of it into a different direction but I'm not quite sure where yet. I'm pretty stressed with this project and class in general as I feel that I would be more successful if I could comp...

Analyzing Art From the Postmodernism Era

Image
I know I used this figure for my picture representing my last blog post but I am very interested in the Michael Jackson and Bubbles sculpture by artist Jeff Koons. I think that this is a very interesting piece of work that consists of a style that is still greatly used in the world of art today. The sculpture was made while Michael Jackson was at the peak of his career and was meant to portray him as a "god-like icon"(Art Story) by painting him in all gold and resting on a bed of flowers. I find that this style is used all the time still as actors, music artists, athletes and more are at the peak of their respected careers. I think that Sports Illustrated does a great amount of this with their naked athlete editions and swimsuit models. When they create these magazines they tend to choose people that are in the peak of or very respected in their career in order to get people to view and subscribe to their magazine but also to promote the superstars. I find this art very smar...

Art in Postmodernism

Image
The Postmodernism era was a tough movement where people weren't too confident in what was going on in the world and what could happen next. It was a post-war movement where people were on edge and the artwork described showed that.   https://www.canva.com/design/DAELLqOOGKs/PBrCCi8R6altlkzzfDPapw/view?utm_content=DAELLqOOGKs&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=sharebutton  Image: Michael Jackson and Bubbles Sculpture Artist: Jeff Koon

Project Site Setup and Ideas

Image
In preparing for the project and getting it going so far, I feel alright about it. I don't have any experience in creating a website so I might struggle there a little bit. I wanted to incorporate hockey into my project and make it a main idea, but receiving feedback about how that might not work made me think about doing my project on music because that is a pretty broad idea that I could do a lot with. I enjoy music a lot as well so I think that could make it much easier to engage in and find new things to teach myself and the class about. Image: "Music Brain" Source: Live For Live Music

Analysis of Futurism from the Modernism Era

Image
Futurism was, and still is, a very interesting artistic movement in the Modernism era. Britannica states that Futurism, " likened humans to machines and vice versa in order to embrace change, speed, and innovation in society while discarding artistic and cultural forms and traditions of the past." We still use this in the world every day today. We are always creating new machines and trying to improve everything in the world while leaving old methods behind. In the art forms of the Modernism era the artists would incorporate many vehicles and machinery and even have entire works of art solely of the vehicles and machines. They were focused on what they believed was the future of the world and they were right. Today we are always thinking about what the future could hold for us, especially in the middle of this pandemic. For example, Elon Musk is working on a microchip for humans and has just tested on a pigs brain. So far they are collecting data but I wouldn't be s...

Art in Modernism

Image
The Modernism era consisted of a great amount of social change with people and artists going off the beaten path and trying something new. Many new psychological, philosophical and political changes were created, driving the people and art to change their old ways. Relating Romanticism to Fall Foliage in Vermont

Image
I decided that I would find relation between the Romanticism era and something that I live through every year. Fall Foliage in Vermont is absolutely gorgeous and it attracts many out-of-staters every year. Fall foliage relates to the Romanticism era because in the Romantic era nature was introduced more and more into art work. Nature was just a small part of the Romantic era with many other big parts like more creativity, physic touch, emotion and imagination. Fall foliage relates to this in the way that it is a natural art but people find so much satisfaction and use photography to capture the art and make it last forever. I think that the idea for photography of nature relates to the Romantic era so much because it is an art that is very out of the box and creative, but is made to be enjoyed by people without seeing it in person. The Romantic era used so much creativity and changed so much that the sky was the limit for what kind of art you could create. With so mu...

Art in Romanticism

Image
The Romanticism era came shortly after the Enlightenment and changed how artists created their work. They started getting more creative and going outside the box of normality. They started creating pieces with nature, emotion, physical touch and much more seen here https://www.canva.com/design/DAEKCLcYyco/iAWnKUqXrwERf4ZIjA3yKA/view?utm_content=DAEKCLcYyco&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link&utm_source=sharebutton  Image: Beethoven's Fifth Symphony Source: Classic FM

Project Planning

Image
Right now in the project planning process I'm struggling with figuring out what I want to do. All the requirements and different aspects of the project are confusing me a little. I think I'm going to struggle throughout the whole project process with coming up with things to research and incorporate while still making it flow nice and make sense. I really want to incorporate hockey, I know that for sure. I think that I can use it in a way that I will be able to look at many aspects of it such as on ice, off ice, some type of mental aspect, preparation (working out, pregame rituals). I think there are plenty of things that I can use in the project, but I need to find a way to make it all flow and make sense. I hope I can make it work but if not I'm sure I will find something else to incorporate as well. Image: Mental Toughness Source: https://www.thepersimmongroup.com/mental-toughness/
